In this video, I talk my basic approach to mixing down a track. And I am very interested how other people approach mixdown, especially when working with hardware. There is a difference when mixing ITB vs OTB, first - options, you have a lot less to work with in terms of equipment, when working outside the box. But I also find working with hardware you don't need to add too much processing either, as it already sounds more or less balanced. I feel like using hi pass filter on everything when mixing in the box, you don't have to add it that much when mixing OTB as it already sort of sounds cleaner, and that kind of stuff.

My simple setup consists of Akai S1000 and my own made samples, except breaks. I mix with Soundcraft Folio FX8 and I use Alesis Quadraver for effects. That is it. There were times when I had a lot more equipment, including all kinds of compressors, FX units, multitrack tape recorders etc.
