It is widely known that Europeans can visit any African country without stress. In fact, a European doesn’t need to get a visa before coming to an African country and neither does he or she need to prove anything or sign any paperwork. All the European has to do is to pack his luggages, and buy a ticket to any African country. When he arrives he would be granted a visa-on-arrival at a very affordable rate. But for an African desiring to visit any European country, the reverse is the case. If an African wants to visit any Western country, he or she has to have made that decision months ago and start the long process of getting the visa. For example, a Sierra Leonean who wishes to travel to Italy for a business meeting has to undertake two separate trips to the Italian Consulate in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, over several weeks at eye-watering costs. And, even after going through all those processes, he might have to wait for a long time before getting the visa and it's still even possible that he may not get the visa.

This has been the practice for decades and most African countries have not done anything about this unfair practice. However, recently, one African country has decided to change the game, hitting Europe with visa restrictions. This move has however gotten mixed reactions with some applauding it and others concerned about the implications. This African country is none other than Morocco.
