A landmark of Neue Deutsche Härte / industrial metal, Sehnsucht pairs grinding, machine-like riffs with eerie melodies and cinematic production—hear it on the propulsive, shouted “Du hast,” the haunting “Engel” (with its whistled motif), and the brooding title track “Sehnsucht.”
The album reached No. 1 on the German Albums Chart and No. 1 in Austria, and went on to earn international certifications (it is one of the few entirely German-language albums to be certified in the US).
