Tracklist below | Mother Gong was a later ofshoot of the legendary psychedelic hippie and progressive rock group Gong. It was created by member and poetess Gilli Smyth (1933-2016) when she released her first album 'Mother' in 1978. It was the start of a Gong that was inspired by female aspects of spirituality, witchcraft and magic, moon principles and a "Mother" theme that should be understood in a wide sense containing the properties for the energy of cosmic birth, healing and mystery. Buddha's Birthday' came out in the late 80's. The line-up consisted of Gilli Smyth, Harry Williamson, Robert Calvert, Conrad Henderson and Robert George. It was recorded at the Spring Studios in Melbourne, Australia in 1987. It's another wonderful album of spontaneous psychedelic composition from the mighty Gong universe. This was a cassette-only release published in limited quantities. *In loving memory of Gilli Smyth*
