The film is set in the 1920s Moscow, the era of the NEP. A violent gang is on the loose, instilling terror into the Zamoskvorechye. Daring raids follow one after another. They clearly show the M.O. of a known recidivist nicknamed “Sery,” who was recently released from prison. Bandits’ favorite resting place is an inn on Pyatnitskaya Street. There’s no way to catch them red-handed. The only way to expose the perpetrators is to infiltrate this “tavern”...
