
The closure of the Independence Bridge in Lagos for rehabilitation sparked massive gridlock, leaving commuters and motorists stranded for hours. Federal Controller of Works Olukorede Kesha announced the closure earlier in the week, stating repairs would last until the end of May. However, the chaos that followed prompted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to apologize and Works Minister David Umahi to reopen the bridge after claiming he was unaware of the initial closure decision.
