Speed metal, a subgenre of aggressive and fast-paced Heavy Metal that acquired the characteristic of blending with elements of Hardcore Punk, thus gaining greater speed and aggression. In addition, most bands sought to add an extra touch of darkness to their sound, both musically and lyrically. The genre's antecedents can be found in bands such as Judas Priest, Motorhead, Accept, Anvil, and some bands belonging to the NWOBHM. In Germany, in the mid-1980s, speed metal enjoyed notable development and served as a key step in the evolution of power metal, thanks to bands like Helloween, Running Wild, Rage, and Blind Guardian, among others.

Speed Metal, un subgénero del Heavy Metal agresivo y veloz que adquirio tal característica de mezclarse con elementos del Hardcore Punk, y de esta manera ganando mas velocidad y agresividad, ademas de esto, la mayoria de bandas quisieron agregar un toque extra de oscuridad a su sonido tanto musical como en sus letras. Antecedentes del género se pueden encontrar en bandas de la talla de Judas Priest, Motorhead, Accept, Anvil y de algunas bandas pertenecientes a la NWOBHM. En Alemania a mediados de los 80 el Speed Metal tuvo un desarrollo notable, y sirvió como un paso clave para la evolución del Power Metal, esto de al mano de bandas como Helloween, Running Wild, Rage y Blind Guardian, entre otras.
