Firstly we have the massive Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. As the name implies this nation was a union between the Kingdom of Lithuania and Poland. However, it met its demise in 1795 when its neighbors decided to divide the entire nation.
Speaking of its neighbors, we have Austria-Hungary. This country, as you can see, ruled a ton of land of other ethnicities, Secondly, decision to cause the World War 2 led to its defeat and collapse in 1918.
