The Tango Suite is a three-part composition for two guitars written by Astor Piazzolla in 1984. The work was composed for the Duo Assad, which consists of the Brazilian virtuoso guitarist brothers, Sergio and Odair Assad, and has become an integral part of the chamber music repertoire for two guitars. Piazzolla met Sergio and Odair Assad in 1983 when they performed a two-guitar arrangement of Escolaso’s Suite Troileana at a concert in Paris. A few months later, he presented them with the score of the Tango Suite, which premiered in Belgium in 1984. "Tango no. 2" is the second, slow and lyrical, part of the work, played in a more Rubato style (more freely), with variations in its sections in terms of tempo and musical atmosphere.
