This is a weekend Hardware Jams entry.

The prompt was to write a piece of music inspired by the 'drop hammer', one of the machines used in the steel making process in the city of Sheffield.

The hammer could be heard all day and night and would ring out for miles through the surrounding areas. This sound was hugely influential on the electronic music which subsequently emerged from Sheffield, dating back over 50 years.

This track includes samples of the hammer itself, industrial background noises, and of course the opening from 'The New World Symphony' by Dvorak.

Overbridge was used to record each track of the Digitakt, while the Digitone is recorded directly through the inputs of the Digitakt. All making for a nice portable 'travel' setup while visiting my mum for the weekend.

I hope you enjoy.
