The Janiculum (Gianicolo) is a Roman hill, overlooking the right bank of the Tiber. The eastern slope slopes towards the river and at the base is the historic district of Trastevere, while the western slope, less steep, constitutes the oldest part of the modern district of Monteverde. It is one of the most panoramic places in the city with a view of central Rome with its domes and bell towers.
St. Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro) is a large square located directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica. Located on the edge of the historic center of the city of Rome, of which it is a symbol, the square is part of the Vatican City. Both the square and the basilica are named after an apostle of Jesus Saint Peter, whom Catholics consider the first Pope.
