The DM1 Dynamite is a phantom powered inline amplifier that can help boost the signal of a dynamic or ribbon microphone without using a lot of gain at a preamp. One application is an SM7B into a entry-level interface that may not have enough clean gain in it's preamps. A second application could be using a passive ribbon microphone to record acoustic instruments that may not be very loud, but you want the detail and warmth of a ribbon mic to capture those instruments.
