General Pan Tianxiong of the Sichuan Army outwardly obeyed orders to fight the Red Army but secretly aided their strategic retreat. Red Army instructor Yi Min inspired him with revolutionary ideals, igniting his resolve to resist the Japanese invasion. Despite Chiang Kai-shek’s conspiracies, Pan Tianxiong remained steadfast in his patriotic mission. In the Pinghan Line Battle, he fought the Japanese army to the death.
