In this drum lesson Dan Garcia teaches a polymetric paradiddle warmup. Dan is best known as the drummer for the Houston, TX based Mathcore band Pacmanthemovie.

ℹ︎ This polymetric paradiddle warmup applies sixteenth note paradiddles shared between the right hand on the hi-hat and the left hand on the snare drum. For the first two measures the kick drum plays quarter notes on the down beat. During the third and fourth measures the kick drum shifts to dotted eighth notes while the sixteenth note paradiddles shared between the hi-hat and snare continues uninterrupted.
(Some may refer to this rhythm as a vertical "hemiola", instead of a "polymeter". However, a hemiola is strictly a 3:2 ratio
in which two groupings
of three beats equal in
value are emphasized as
three groupings of two
beats equal in value.)
