As I mention in the Reel, these San Marzano tomatoes are easy to grow (as tall cordon tomatoes go anyway) and high yielding. And if you are into making your own tomato sauces using fresh homegrown fruit then this is an excellent option. And the seeds are cheap!
There are several others to choose from though, just look out for any that are described as paste tomatoes. This means that the texture of the flesh is firmer with less juice, which apparently works better in cooking 🤷🏼♀️
Of course, I use all my tomatoes in cooking if I have excess, as they gat popped in the freezer (can be used straight from the freezer). But there definitely is a special feeling of achievement picking these ripe San Marzano tomatoes straight from the vine and into the kitchen 🤩
Do you use your tomatoes in cooking? Or do you mainly eat them fresh? Let me know in the comments!
