Shohoz.com fined Tk 2 lakh over DU student’s complaint

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection on Wednesday fined the railway’s e-ticketing partner Shohoz.com Tk 2,00,000 for its alleged negligence in ticket sale.
The fine was slapped after a hearing on the complaint regarding mismanagement in ticket sales brought by Mohiuddin Rony, a fourth-year student of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University.
Shohoz will have to pay the fine within five working days, and Rony will get Tk 50,000 of it, director general AHM Shafiquzzaman of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection said in a press briefing in the capital.
‘If required, we will summon the railway authority,’ the DG said.
The e-ticketing platform was also asked to submit a report on its process of selling train tickets.
Shohoz lawyer Mirza Ragib Hasnat told the media that they would challenge the verdict.
However, Rony’s allegation against bKash was that it deducted his money without PIN which was proved wrong.
Roni has been protesting at the Kamalapur Railway Station from July 7, demanding an end to the mismanagement at the Bangladesh Railway.
