Swing Rhythm for Piedmont Blues

In the last couple of lessons, I introduced you to a couple of picking patterns than can be woven together to create a somewhat Piedmont sound. Then we talked about how to make the basic picking pattern sound more Piedmont by swinging the rhythm.

Swinging the rhythm is such a subtle change, but it really makes the sound so bluesy. But it's missing something, right?

In this lesson, I'll show you how to add staccato playing to this picking pattern to give the piece some real punch and a sense of dynamics. Staccato playing is all about playing short choppy notes and when applied correctly, you really get a very ragtime or Piedmont vibe.
