I put my patience to a test so this solo spent a few months in planning and maturing in the back of my head. This time I wanted a real thought-out structure, instead of improvising and relying on what I could make up on the spot. I think of it as a story with a predefined beginning and ending with certain events that need to happen in between, but there's still a lot of improvisation and trying different routes between those events. Or then you could just think of it as all the coolest licks I've gathered along the years arranged into a sequence that tries to make some musical sense. :) Anyway, I really hope you enjoy the drum solo, and if you do, sharing it is much appreciated!
And what a great way to break in my new Impression cymbal setup: 15" traditional hihat, 18" traditional thin crash, 14" mixed wide china, 10" mixed splash, 21" x-hard thin ride, 17" hollister crash, 8" smooth splash, 12" trash splash on top of 16" traditional wide china, 20" smooth custom ride.
