Six armed suspects have been killed during a shootout with police on the N2 near Ndabakazi in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape. Police Spokesperson Siphokazi Mawisa says police had received information about two vehicles with firearms driving from Cofimvaba.

Police spotted the vehicles and attempted to stop them. However, the cars sped off and a chase ensued. The suspects shot at the police, who then retaliated. Six suspects were fatally shot and firearms were recovered in their vehicles.
