In this interview, Arshan sat down with Hardrock to discuss his versatile rock-inspired rap sound, his unique Atlanta-based come-up that saw him have a stint in the military, and gaining notoriety from legendary co-signs like Frank Ocean, Avril Lavigne, Waka Flocka Flame, and more.

Hardrock’s musical journey began with playing the trumpet and drums in his school’s band, which ultimately led him to start making beats in sixth grade before he ever picked up the mic. After a serious knee injury, his hoop dreams were sidelined, which pushed him further into pursuing his music. After years of building his sound, he started gaining traction in 2022 following the release of his tracks “Flexup” and “God’s Hands”. During this period, Hardrock was serving in the military with no access to his phone, leaving him clueless that his music was blowing up on the outside. From there, Hardrock’s stock rose like crazy, eventually putting him in rooms with producers like SAINT, F1LTHY, and BNYX, who have helped Hardrock cement his position in the underground scene along with his music reaching ears far beyond it.

In their conversation, Hardrock and Arshan discussed Hardrock’s journey from small stages to headlining shows, being influenced by his mom and dad’s eclectic taste in music that spanned R&B to Crunk music, producing before rapping, being “a menace” on the basketball court, what led him to join the military, his music blowing up while serving, working with F1LTHY and BNYX, being co-signed by industry greats like Frank Ocean and Avril Lavigne, having over 800 of his songs be leaked, being tapped in with A$AP ROCKY, wanting to work with Young Thug, SahBabii, Future, & LUCKI, and modeling for 1017 ALYX 9SM in Milan, Italy.
