This is what an Alaskan traffic jam looks like. While most people are stuck on the highway, in Alaska, our rush hour happens in the sky. This isn't just a clever saying; for many remote parts of the state, aviation isn't a luxury—it's the only way in or out. So when we get a chance to celebrate the incredible machines and the pilots who fly them at the world-famous Valdez Airshow, you know we're going to be there.
Forget the honking horns and bumper-to-bumper cars. Our kind of traffic involves the thunderous roar of a vintage Everts Air Fuel DC-3 making a low pass through the magnificent Chugach Mountains. It involves the nimble grace of a bright yellow biplane performing jaw-dropping aerobatics and stunts just feet above the runway. This is the kind of congestion we'll gladly sit and watch all day long. The skill on display is a testament to the fact that flying in Alaska is simply built different.
This video captures the essence of what we love about living here—the blend of raw, untamed nature and the incredible ingenuity and spirit of the people. From the powerful prop planes to the nimble Cessnas that are the workhorses of the state, every aircraft tells a story of adventure, survival, and the unique challenges of life in the Last Frontier. It’s this spirit that we aim to share in every video we create on our channel.
We want our channel, Living My Alaska, to be your window into this incredible lifestyle. We're here to share not just the epic scenery, but the humor, the challenges, and the everyday moments that make this place so special. We hope this little glimpse into our world brings a smile to your face.
So, now we have to ask: What does a traffic jam look like where you live? Let us know in the comments below!
