This man witnessed a customer opening up this disabled girl's popcorn, eating some and splitting in her face. He wanted to do something but the girl told the man that it was okay because it wasn't nearly the worse thing she experienced. They got to talking and the found out that the girl lost her father at the age of 8 from an accident. The accident where she lost use of her legs due to a spinal injury.

After the accident, her mother spent all the money they had to try and get her to walk again but nothing worked. Then, she turned to gambling and gambled even more money away. The girl was often neglected and starving because there was no food at home and when she called her mother wouldn't answer. So she had to knock on neighbors doors to ask for food. They kindly did gave them to her. But of course it wasn't enough so she fainted often as a child. Even then her family didn't pay much attention to her.

She was blamed by one grandmother for causing the accident and causing her father to die. Another grandmother blame her for being a baggage so her mother couldn't remarry.

She sat in self pity for a long time and her depression got worse when she found out her mother had taken loans in her name. Loans that she'll have to pay back all of which was gambled away. But one day, she decided to stop the self pity and take matters into her own hands.

She started volunteering even organizing events to get people more familiar with what disabled people go through so people are more considerate. She's invited to events and speak in front of crowds. She also clean public toilets for disabled people sometimes without being asked to or paid.

Her positive attitude eventually attracted her current fiancé who promised that he will find a cure for her so she can walk again. He's currently in medical school. She's also since forgiven her family and they are closer than ever. Her mother has stopped gambling as far as she could tell.

All of this wouldn't have happened if she continued to sat in her room and be sad. Sometimes we can't change what happened to us but we can change how we respond to it.
