In the late '70s and '80s, the world's first superstar DJ regularly commanded the decks of New York's Paradise Garage. But in 1987, on the final weekend of September, the legendary club filled one last time. Loyalists arrived at 84 King St. and covered the dance floor with "Save the Garage" stickers; regular Keith Haring flew in from Tokyo; people cried while Levan's mother thanked them for coming.
