Health authorities in Gauteng, South Africa, have proposed mandatory contraceptive implants for young girls, with parental consent, to address rising teen pregnancies. Last year, 122,000 teenagers became mothers, including 3,000 girls aged 10 to 14. However, the proposal has been met with backlash, with rights activists arguing that parents should take more responsibility before such measures are considered.
