💪Serum is one of the most powerful synthesizers out there. It’s so powerful and cleverly designed that it has become a standard for what a modern synthesizer should be. However, that doesn’t make it flawless, in fact, Serum lacks one of the most basic modules of a synthesizer: an arpeggiator/sequencer.
😎 But fear not! There is a way around that and it involves using one of Serum’s LFOs.
🟢 The idea is very simple: we need to create an envelope-like shape in the LFO, set its rate to 1/16, and use it to modulate the volume of the oscillators. This will give us a very basic 1/16 arpeggiated sequence.
🤓 To add some groove, we will use one of Serum’s two chaos oscillators to modulate the X-axis of the two points that make up the release of our envelope (the LFO shape). You can set the chaos oscillator to any rate you like, I personally prefer 1/8, and the mode should be set to S&H.
✅ That’s it! Enjoy your groovy arpeggiated sequences in Serum.
