He explores what happens when remembrance turns into spiritual ego, when reflection on Allah is no longer about submission but about projection. “I get Allah. You don’t.” “My way connects to Him. Yours doesn’t.” That kind of Dhikr can lead to arrogance, even delusion.
This is why the Quran pairs Dhikr with Tasbeeh. Because Tasbeeh—declaring Allah’s perfection—is what keeps us in bounds. It reminds us that no matter how much we reflect, we never define Him. We only praise Him.
This reflection cuts through superficial spiritual trends and brings us back to the Quran’s model for remembrance: one rooted in humility, awe and restraint.
