I start here: with a feeling. This is my contribution to the #istarthere #teoperator that I was tagged into by @jay_the_paradox_mc , it was started by @heymunmusic to showcase how we create our music and what element we start with.

I start with a feeling. Whatever instrument I am writing on, it always starts with a feeling. That feeling may translate into a single thumping sound on a wooden block, which then opens the doorway to further expressing that feeling and building upon the thumping with another tone. Or if I am on guitar, the feeling transforms into a rhythm that may lead me to certain words that can express and communicate how I am feeling. In this piece I used a #loopstation to layer different percussive elements into a distinct rhythm that I can use to further express the initial feeling with words or other instruments on top of. Sometimes the feeling evolves into a full fledged song, and other times I just let it out and feel a bit of emotional respite.
