The 16th Dhaka Motor Show 2023 showcasing cars, motorbikes, and their spare parts began on Thursday amid festivities and enthusiasm at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Dhaka’s Purbachal New Town.
CEMS-Global USA in association with CEMS Bangladesh is organising the three-day international exhibition featuring brand-new cars and motorcycles.
The 7th Dhaka Bike Show-2023, the 6th Dhaka Auto Parts Show 2023, and the 5th Dhaka Commercial Automotive Show 2023 are also running simultaneously at the venue.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam said that this show was essential for the development and growth of the automobile sector in Bangladesh.
He said that with the increase in per capita income in the country people were expected to buy cars and youths to buy motorbikes in the years to come.
He said that holding such an exhibition would improve Bangladesh's standing on the global market and improve investors' confidence.
‘CEMS Global will attract both domestic and foreign direct investment, accelerate industrialisation, broaden product diversity and provide opportunities to earn foreign currency,’ he said.
While talking to New Age, ACE Autos chief executive officer Azharul Islam said that they brought two new generation vehicles featuring hybrid-electric and some new technologies and this was the main motive for them to attend the show.
'There is a global energy crisis, and the country is suffering from it as well. We hope these environment-friendly vehicles will save energy,’ he said.
At the exhibition, buyers, visitors, and entrepreneurs can get acquainted with brand-new cars, parts, accessories, and new technologies, according to a press release issued by CEMS.
The show contains 350 booths and 150 exhibitors from 12 countries, including Japan, China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
It will end on Saturday.
