U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that tariffs are bringing in nearly $2 billion USD per day, and that countries are rushing in to make “tailored deals” ahead of a midnight deadline.“Sometimes you have to mix it up a little bit,” Trump said, defending his tariff plan just after markets closed on another day of turmoil and big losses on Wall Street.
The U.S. president claimed that over 70 countries are wanting to talk about getting a deal, but the U.S. “can’t see that many, that fast.”
The United States said on Tuesday that 104% duties on imports from China will take effect shortly after midnight, even as the Trump administration moved to quickly start talks with other trading partners targeted by President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff plan.
