Author of Rock'n'Roll Unravelled, Derek Shelmerdine in conversation with Frank Carlyle on 10 April 2017. This month we chatted about Liverpool legend Brian Casser.
Brian Casser was one of the unsung heroes of the Merseybeat scene. In the late 1950s his group Cass and the Cassanovas was one of the pioneering beat groups. In late 1960 Casser parted from the band and headed down to London, missing out on the massive commercial success of the Merseybeat era.
The Cassanovas stayed together, changed their name to The Big Three and became one of Liverpool's most respected bands.
