Chopin's Winter Wind Etude (Op. 25 No. 11) is probably one of his most famous etudes because of its insane technicality but also because of its beautiful, chilling melody.
But technicality aside, what goes into the musicality of a performance like this? How do dynamics and phrasing in both hands contribute to the overall listening and even performing experiences of both listener and player?
Cateen's (Hayato Sumino) performance is undoubtedly incredible, and I break down aspects of this recording that are both unique and universal to him and other performances!
Be sure to watch the original before (or after) this video because I stop a lot to explain things!
