Rooted in the rich heritage of the Colombian Caribbean and its sound system culture, Edna Martinez creates expansive DJ sets that seamlessly blend African, Caribbean, and Arab rhythms. Based in Berlin, her performances evolve constantly, weaving basslines to connect global club sounds and diaspora influences. She has performed at stages such as Berghain, Glastonbury and Fusion Festival, Museo Reina Sofía, Bahidora and beyond. As a curator and host on NTS, Radio Alhara, and Worldwide FM, Martinez delves into restitution and sonic boundaries, making sound an integral part of her artistic practice.

Champeta was born in the 1980s and has roots in the Palenque of San Basilio and the peripheral areas of Cartagena de Indias. Influenced by Jamaican sound system culture and African rhythms like soukous, among others, champeta has been primarily spread through picós, spaces where technology and local knowledge showcase the creativity of the Colombian Caribbean. This selection blends classic tracks with fresh edits, celebrating Champeta’s bold spirit and showing how diasporic sounds fuse, reinvent themselves, and create a shared language of resistance and community.
