Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria. A state in Australia that was known for having some of the richest alluvial goldfields to have ever existed. This... is a fact that is very well known. But what isn't, is the fact that Melbourne itself is sitting on a goldfield... And... this goldfield was never exploited.

It was found outcropping several locations across the old city of Melbourne in the 1850s onwards. Several rushes began after the discovery of small pea size gold nuggets were made time and time again. So in this video, I'm going to discuss what discoveries were legitimate, and why gold is here to begin with.
