Shoutout to superstar channel member Alan who was in for his face-to-face session yesterday and was working on this. Here's what I would consider "the big four" hi-hat foot patterns to play along with your basic, straight 8s-style grooves when playing your lead stick on the ride/floor tom/other surface.

This is one of the loveliest things to practice I think - put on some of your favourite music, groove along with kick, snare and ride and work through the different variations. Of course, they may require some working up, depending where you're currently at!

Then the fun part is deciding where and when to deploy them in the music you're making!
