NASA controllers were unable to stop a leak that was found in the hydrogen tank of the Artemis 1.
The launch window was planned to be open for two hours today and the rocket was ready to carry the Orion spacecraft approximately 1.3 million miles or 2.1 million kilometers onto a distant retrograde orbit around the moon.
With a maximum thrust capacity of 8.8 million pounds, or the equivalent of almost 4,000 metric tons the SLS rocket will become the most powerful launch vehicle to ever lift off from Earth.
Standing 322 feet tall the rocket is capable of transporting 27 metric tons of payload, including four astronauts into deep space.
According to NASA it is 15% more powerful than the Saturn V rocket used during the Apollo missions.
On Monday 29th August NASA's Artemis 1 moon mission launch was cancelled due to an engine failure.
