Boeing's Starliner capsule landed in New Mexico on Friday night after leaving the International Space Station with an empty cabin. The two test pilots, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, remain on the station for another five to six months.
Starliner made its descent via autopilot and landed in the desert after a six-hour journey. This mission followed a troubled start, with delays and issues like thruster failures and helium leaks that kept the capsule from returning its crew as planned. Engineers struggled with these problems, which led NASA to decide it was too risky for Wilmore and Williams to come back on Starliner.
