In this second part of the "Effective Practice" (I know, I know, I messed up and said effective teaching instead. My bad.) Series I go over a method of combining two different rhythms. This is helpful in that it implements an intentional practice of applying variation. In essence you are practicing variation in a controlled/structured environment and therefore hopefully enforcing your ability to improvise, experiment, etc. It is also an efficient way of working on more than one rhythm in an abbreviated time. This is extremely useful when limited amounts of practice time is an issue.
