Pigeons are quite attractive birds, and some may approach you and stare directly into your eyes, thinking you are a generous person who would give them food. This is something I can't help, therefore I always carry some food with me when I know I'll be around feral pigeons. You never know when you might need it to rescue a pigeon that has its feet entangled in thread! However, I try not to feed them frequently or in large quantities unless there is extreme weather, like ice and snow, in which case they would require more food than usual but find less.
