Today’s episode is about Geckos. In fact, the name Gecko comes from an Indonesian-Malay word that is very similar to the sound they make.They have 100 teeth and they can replace it every 3 to 4 months. But the most interesting thing about Geckos are their tails.
If their tails get cut off they can regrow it, but they hate to see that happen, because they carry nutrients inside their tails.
That’s why if it does get cut off, most times they go back to see if it’s still there to eat it.
They don’t have eyelids, instead they have a transparent membrane around their eyes, it’s kind of like a biological goggle over their eyes. This membrane gets dirty and they lick it to keep it clean, so they can see what’s going on.
And they can see very well, their eyes are 350 times more sensitive to light than our human eyes.
Other fun facts are that they shed their skin and eat it and that some species of geckos can lay eggs without needing a male gecko, similar to chickens.
