This old granny has been making these lion headed dolls for decades. These aren't just any dolls, these are the traditional lion toy made from real sheep skin passed down through generations for the past 600 years. They may be one of the oldest toys still being made today by hand.
However, when they first found her, she was about to retire after finishing the last 3 sheep skins. She wasn't making more because no one wanted to buy them. After dolls started getting mass produced, demand dropped.
But after sharing her story online, they never expected this to happen. First, she received a lot of hate for her ugly dolls that are outdated but then orders kept coming in. On the first day, she sold 1000 dolls, more than the past 3 years orders combined. And when people kept suggesting them to turn the lion dolls into keychains, they did. They also turned it into fridge magnets.
However, the best thing the old lady got out of this, to her, was her sons returning to help out. They returned to help make the dolls, market the dolls, and source materials. All of this happened in under a year.
1 year later, sales are still going strong. They are still operating and it's all thanked to the woman for sharing their story online. Maybe some traditions are worth keeping.
