"Heartbreak Hill" had a brief stay in the charts. It debuted on October 31, 1964 and reached #99 on the Billboard POP-charts. It stayed 2 weeks on the charts and Fats has one chart-entry to go before his amazing run of hits dried out.

*Al Downing was the first to record this song. Done in 1962 it was released on Kansoma-0004. Fats wanted Downing to write him some songs and made a deal with Downing; he wanted half of the publishing and half of the writing credits. As it turned out, Fats also recorded three other Downing-songs: "Mary, Oh Mary", "Land Of Make Believe", "The Girl I'm Gonna Marry", "Reelin' And Rockin""
