Here are 3 levels of hummus.
Level 1: Store-Bought Hummus
When you're in a pinch, this will do, but we can certainly do better.
Level 2: Homemade Jalapeño Hummus
Into a food processor add chickpeas, jalapeños, garlic, fresh lemon juice, and tahini (or sesame paste). Bonus points if you throw some ice cubes in for additional smoothness.
It's good, but I can still do better.
Level 3: The Ultimate Homemade Hummus
To your plain homemade hummus, add roasted serranos, roasted jalapeños, roasted red bell peppers, a whole head of roasted garlic, toasted sesame tahini, and rosemary olive olive, and blend until creamy.
Top with some extra pizzaz and eat with charred pita bread. You really can't get better than this.
