Michael Delahaye reports on the extraordinary success of Kettering Town Football Club since the appointment of Derek "the Doog" Dougan as player-manager.

Under the guidance of the former Wolves and Northern Ireland striker, the Southern League part-timers have gone unbeaten for an astonishing 32 games, including one against first division West Bromwich Albion.

Derek Dougan has ruffled some feathers along the way, however - he has fallen foul of the Football Association, due to a shirt sponsorship deal struck with Kettering Tyres, that made Kettering Town the first english club to wear a sponsor's name on their kit. The FA demanded that the sponsor be removed from the kit, and although Dougan initially complied with them, he plans to restore the sponsor's name to the kit in the near future. Another fight with the FA seems imminent, but for now Dougan is busy preparing his charges for an historic FA Cup third round tie against fourth division Colchester United.
