There's a limit to how much of the universe we can see. The observable universe is finite in that it hasn't existed forever. It extends 46 billion light years in every direction from us.
.
So, infinity is not real in the scientific sense. Nevertheless, physicists use infinity all the time. Take for example the size of the universe. In most contemporary models, the universe is infinitely large.
.
The universe is so vast and the building blocks of life are so abundant in the cosmos. The number of planets in the cosmos is so large that it's very unlikely that life on Earth is the only form of life that exists out there,”
.
Brian Edward Cox is an English physicist and former musician who is a professor of particle physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester[2][3] and The Royal Society Professor for Public Engagement in Science.[4] He is best known to the public as the presenter of science programmes, especially BBC Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage and the Wonders of... series[5][6] and for popular science books, such as Why Does E=mc²? and The Quantum Universe.
