it's widely accepted that great guitar solos should be based around a musical idea or "motif" - but how do you actually go about doing it?Here's a great example of a motif taken from the instrumental "Zoo Surfin" - it's a short and sweet pentatonic based phrase that Freddie repeats and develops. Rhythm and repetition are key.
