America has some really incredible architecture…. It also has had some really incredible architecture that unfortunately has been demolished over the years. This list looks at 10 of the most spectacular pieces of American architecture that are no longer standing. Each building's situation is a little different, but in virtually all of the cases the ultimate decision to demolish came down to the owners valuing efficiency, modernity, "progress" and bottom line over things like historical, cultural and aesthetic significance.
