Queensland was the site of renewed volcanic activity beginning roughly 31 million years ago after Australia steadily drifted north over a volcanic hotspot, turning Australia into a volcanically active landscape once more. Which is something that it hadn't properly been, at least in this part of Australia, for many tens of millions of years.

The result of this were eruptions beginning at Cape Hillsborough, and, as this hotspot slowly moved south, as Australia passed north over it at 7cm per year, the resulting magma from it would melt continental crust, which would go on to solidify as the intrusive rocks that we call the Glass House Mountains in Queensland.
