I captured this image—“Awakening”—in the pouring rain using two amaran Ace 25c lights.

What I love most about the Ace 25c is its magnetic honeycomb grid and diffuser, which helped me shape the light with precision and avoid unwanted spill. It made it easy to keep the subject lit and the shadows controlled—exactly what I needed for this macro scene.

I shot 30 images at f/4 and focus-stacked them in post to bring out full texture in the bud while keeping a soft, clean background.

Sometimes the smallest scenes reveal the biggest details.
