In this video we are going to have a quick look at adding and subtracting surds.
You should already know how to simplify them.
There is just one simple rule for adding and subtracting surds: the square root number must be the same. And then treat it like an expression: deal with the numbers outside the square root as one thing. And think of the number inside the square root as a letter.
You may be able to simplify the surds first, and then add or subtract them.
