I remember a few years ago when the rejection of digital synths and everything related to digital music technology was prominent, there was a revival that claimed the warmth of analogue technology claiming that plugins and everything related to digital sounded cold and spiritless...obeying the colossal demand for these old devices the second hand market was filled with old analogue synths, mixing desks, tape recorders, etc.
The studios filled up with these devices and people started to use them trying to get the best of both worlds analog/digital (A/D) (it was the most repeated phrase for years).
The nightmares started soon, getting a perfect sync between your devices (A/D) became an obsession, latencies became obnoxious, dedicated sequencers were old and didn't meet the needs of contemporary music and everybody started to remember the famous Ataris and their great midi output. Before the craze reached an extreme state small companies started to supply the market with modern hardware sequencers and among them there was one that attracted a lot of attention and became a favourite of great musicians, I guess you know where I'm going, we are talking about the famous Sequentix Cirklon.
After this introduction I leave you with the words of Francesco, the author of this wonderful Album that I am sure many of you will enjoy.
////
This album is the result of a sonic exploration made possible by the Sequentix Cirklon, a rare and incredibly powerful hardware sequencer that stands as a cornerstone in the world of electronic music. All the tracks were composed using this sequencer.
I acquired the Cirklon about three years ago, and it opened up countless possibilities for real-time sequencing and control of all the analog and digital hardware instruments in my studio. It allowed me to create jams by directly managing my hardware through its advanced song modes and real-time sequencing capabilities.
This workflow enabled me to produce tracks with a more direct and authentic sound, capturing the essence of live one-take performances without additional editing on the computer. Each track reflects the immediacy and organic nature of this process, resulting in an album that feels raw, honest, and deeply connected to the hardware that shaped it.
